Dimitri is a seasoned scientific advisor and business development professional specialising in research & development, strategic partnerships and innovation. He has over 25 years of experience at the intersection of academia and industry, with his role at Swansea University being pivotal in fostering collaborations between academic and industry partners that lead to the establishment of cutting-edge research centres and institutes.
Dimitri’s expertise spans diverse fields including drug development, wood preservation, large-scale API manufacturing, techno-economics and business model innovation. He has an extensive background in mechanical chemistry and GMP-compliant processes that, combined with being a PRINCE2 Practitioner and seasoned Project Manager, enabled him to lead multiple successful initiatives including the development of novel anticancer agents and the optimisation of preservative technologies for the timber industry.
His expertise in techno-economic assessment and business innovation enabled him to craft economic models, financial projections for business viability, and revenue models that ensure the financial sustainability and commercial success of R&D entities and academic institutions.
